Frequently Asked Questions
I’ve compiled a list of the most frequent questions that I have received over my career. It’s normal and encouraged for patients to ask many questions when choosing to work with a therapist. Here are some answers to the questions I receive the most. If you can’t find what you are looking for, please get in touch.
What do I need to prepare for my first session?
You don't need to prepare anything. Understandably it can feel daunting starting therapy but I will guide you through the assessment process.
How many sessions will I need?
It is difficult to answer this question here as it will depend on your own individual circumstances. During your initial assessment we will come up with a personalised plan together that meets you needs. If there are constraints to therapy such as time and costs we can discuss and develop a plan that works for you.
How long will each session last?
Sessions will usually be up to 50 minutes long. In some circumstances such as during EMDR processing it can be common to have sessions up to 90 minutes long. A plan will be discussed and developed with you based or your needs and circumstances
How frequent will sessions be?
It is common for sessions to take place on a weekly or fortnightly basis. This will be discussed with you during you initial assessment and a plan made together based on you circumstances.
How much will your services cost?
Fees are usually set on a "per session" basis and may vary based on the treatment required. Because I offer a range of services I do not have one set fee. The fee is based on your needs and requirements and will be discussed during your initial enquiry before sessions are booked. Fees range from £120/session for Clinical Psychology, up to £200/session for specialist Neuropsychology work. If you have any questions about fees please do contact me directly. I also accept insurance.
Where will the sessions take place?
I offer sessions online. You can therefore choose to be in a place that feels comfort for you. In some circumstances for clients with neurological injuries sessions may take place in their home.
Will everything discussed be kept confidential?
Yes... pretty much! Confidentiality is key within psychological therapy and something I take very seriously. There are some limits to confidentiality, such as if you or someone else is at serious risk of harm. If I feel it would be helpful or needed to share information with other professionals, I will endeavour to discuss this with you first. The limitations and rules around confidentiality will all be discussed with you prior to your initial assessment.
